Katalina Caliendo

Katalina is a ceramicist who considers clay a material for both creating aesthetically interesting art objects and for facilitating vital explorations of our relationship to and place within the material and natural world.

At Summer Camp Katalina will host a two part workshop starting with a raw clay ceremony where guests will burnish an ephemeral cup we create using our hands. This meditative and repetitive process will seal a cup well enough to hold a cup of tea for a duration, long enough to enjoy one, two, three.. The cups are intended to be reclaimed after the enjoyment like bhar terracotta cups. 

This is followed by Conversations with Clay where guests will engage with the haptic properties of clay to invoke dialogues surrounding place and place-making.
